As part of our aim to improve mental health services across the country we are developing a Gold Standard Project for primary care mental health services in Wales.
The initiative is unique to Wales and its primary care mental health services and motivated by a national pledge to halt the current poor profile of Welsh mental health issues.
The introduction of Gold Standard will enable general practices and primary care mental health services to have a sound and effective framework for commissioning and providing services.
The project is about achieving consistent standards of care and committed to leading the continuous improvement in and maintenance and recovery of health and well-being through prevention, support and treatment.
Through Gold Standard we are calling upon others to work with us to develop caring relationships based on trust, communication and person-centredness through the project's following 5 main aims, or attributes:
The central idea of the Gold Standard Project is that the patient should now be the focus and at the heart of all mental health services with an outline of what this actually means provided in our Hallmarks page.
