WaMH in PC Conference 2013: 'Mental Health Promotion in Primary Care - Why Bother?'

This year's WaMH in PC ‘Really Useful Conference’ will be held at Cheltenham Racecourse on Wednesday 9 October looking at innovative approaches in primary care mental health.

Workshop: Mental Health Promotion in Primary Care - Why Bother?

The aim of this workshop is to provide a brief overview of mental health promotion, its relevance in the primary care setting and benefits for patients and staff and will:

• Introduce participants to concepts of mental health and mental illness and the differences between them
• Provide evidence on the effectiveness of mental health promotion on mental and physical health and the benefits to the primary care team of the promotion of mental health among the practice population.
• Consider the 'New Economics Foundation Five Ways to Wellbeing' as an approach that can assist in promoting mental health within primary care settings

Run in conjunction with primhe (Primary Care Mental Health and Education), our conference is focussed on bringing mental health professionals and organisations together in a collaborative setting.
